During today (March 2 ) met the University of Salento Tax Commission with the task to change the current system of student contributions.
The Union of the University of Lecce has participated at the table with clear objectives:
1 - Remove the filters responsible for the first two bands, we believe they are only one tool Administration to make cash, and not a promotion of merit as it has been trying to brag;
2 - Consider reducing for Degrees Magistrali for domestic and non-halved, since we do not understand the reason for which students the master should be penalized compared to others;
3 - Do not pay your students eligible for the scholarship the second and third installments, as the repayments are always very late;
4 - Establishment of the figure of student-worker
The discussion in the commission lasted all morning and were joined PARTIAL results :
1 - eligible for the scholarship will not pay the second and third installments;
2 - the payment deadline is extended to May 31;
3 - Right to Education, the Commission will consider cases of individual students who have not CFU reached;
4 - UDU as we have requested that any external financing from local governments should be bound to the replacement of the resources involved and the reduction filters on half of the colleges.
We think that the measures approved in the Tax Commission are the partial results, as no substantial changes introduced by the filters on, but they are technical amendments to facilitate the payment. We intend to continue
battle for the elimination of filters and about half of the reduction to degree courses, going to seek funding in the budget or through external funding alternative to those who should derive from these two measures .
Friday, March 11 The Budget Committee will meet to go and identify possible resources within the budget that could reduce the tax burden.
